About that drag number: Frigate’s own FAQ says the working drag is about 25 lb, well below the 44 lb rating. Set the drag with that in mind and don’t expect the reel to fight like a 55-lb-drag Shimano.
Kaigen 1500TM: two speeds, level wind, big capacity

Kaigen 7000 series (7000CP, 7000PM, 7000WM): Korean imports
The Kaigen 7000 reels are big-game electric jigging reels. The 7000CP is listed with a hybrid motor system, 60 kg (132 lb) max power drag, a controllable thumb-bar clutch, a 250 m/min motor and 7 ball bearings.
Buyer beware: In the US these are mostly sold as “Korean version” imports on Amazon, Walmart and eBay. Malaysian dealer TCE Tackles notes the 7000CP is a Korea domestic model, with a display in Korean and Chinese characters and a Korean-language manual. Frigate Sales says it services only reels bought through Frigate Sales or its authorized retailers, so a grey-market 7000 probably won’t get US warranty service.
Powering a Banax Kaigen
Frigate Sales gives unusually specific power advice for the Kaigen 1000:
- Use an outlet rated for 30+ amps with a 25 A breaker.
- Connect to your engine batteries rather than house batteries. Engine batteries “will run at a slightly higher voltage than the house batteries,” which gives more speed and power.
