LP S2-1200: the workhorse
The S2-1200 is the current version of the reel that made LP’s name in deep dropping. It runs on 12 volts DC, so it works with the electrical system most center consoles and sportfishers already have.
Key features
- Cantilever spool design with a completely sealed drive system. LP describes it as built for “long reliable, maintenance free use.” Because the drive is sealed away from the spool, salt spray and line wash have fewer places to get in.
- Automatic level winder. Line lays evenly without anyone guiding it by hand. That matters on a deep drop, where you may be winding in 1,500 feet of braid with a heavy lead and a fish attached.
- Electronic counter with stop-at-top mode. The reel stops the rig at the surface instead of pulling your leader through the rod tip.

Why 24 volts? On larger sportfishing boats the run from battery bank to reel can be long. On a 12V system, long cable runs mean voltage drop, which costs power and speed at the reel. At 24V the same wiring carries the load with less loss, which is why LP positions the SV-2400 for bigger boats.

LP DTX Dredge Teaser System
LP’s newest product is the DTX Dredge Teaser System, which the company highlights for its Garmin OneHelm integration. Powering and wiring an LP reel
