Nocqua doesn’t make an electric reel battery. Its Pro Power Kits are compact 12V lithium-ion batteries sold to kayak and small-boat anglers for fish finders, GPS, sonar, cameras and phones. The best known is the 20Ah Pro Power Kit ($219.99), a small battery in a camo sleeve with a charger and wiring kit in the box. Nocqua’s product pages and FAQ don’t mention electric reels at all, and they don’t publish a maximum current rating.
That matters, because an electric reel pulls many times more current than a fish finder. This review covers what Nocqua makes, what it’s good at, and why we wouldn’t run a deep drop reel from it without confirmation from Nocqua.

Nocqua lists charge times of 2.5–3 hours for the 4.4Ah and 5 hours for the 10Ah and 20Ah, a typical lifespan of 2–3 years and 300–500 charge cycles. A Smart Link connector lets you join batteries for more capacity.
Can a Nocqua battery run an electric reel?
We don’t recommend it, for three reasons.
- No current rating. Nocqua publishes capacity but not continuous or peak current. Daiwa rates the Seaborg 800MJ at up to 20 A peak, and a vendor on The Hull Truth said the Banax Kaigen 1000 limits current to 25 A. Without a rating, there’s no way to know whether the pack’s protection circuit will cut out mid-retrieve.
- It’s built around small loads. Nocqua’s recommended accessory fuse is 3A, and its runtime example is a device drawing 2 amps. A fish finder draws a fraction of what a reel does lifting a lead from 600 ft.
- Chemistry and cycle life. Nocqua quotes 300–500 cycles for its lithium-ion packs. Dakota Lithium rates its LiFePO4 12V 10Ah at 2,000 cycles to 80%, and deep drop anglers cycle batteries hard.
If you already own a Nocqua 20Ah and want to try it on a small reel, ask Nocqua for the continuous and peak current rating first, and fuse the circuit to that rating. Don’t use Nocqua’s 3A fuse on a reel circuit; it will blow at once.
Where Nocqua does fit on a deep drop trip
A Nocqua kit is a tidy way to run electronics on a boat or kayak that doesn’t have a spare 12V circuit:
- A portable fish finder or GPS on a kayak or skiff
- Charging phones and cameras through the USB-C adapter
- A separate, clean supply for sonar so reel draw doesn’t cause interference or voltage drop
Pair it with a proper reel battery. Keep it in a dry hatch: Nocqua says the pack is water resistant, not waterproof.

Verdict
Nocqua makes a good, compact electronics battery. The 20Ah Pro Power Kit comes with everything you need to wire a fish finder on a kayak, and the camo sleeve and silicone case hold up to paddle-craft life. It is not an electric reel battery. Nocqua doesn’t publish a current rating, recommends a 3A fuse, and never mentions reels. For deep dropping, run your reel from a dedicated reel pack or a LiFePO4 battery with a published current rating, and keep the Nocqua for your electronics.
