Daiwa makes the Seaborg, Tanacom and Leobritz electric reels, and it makes batteries to match. The current flagship is the Super Lithium 12000WPII-C, a 14.4V, 12Ah pack that weighs about 1.23 kg and can run two small reels at once. Below it are the 12000WP-C, the earlier 11000WP-C, the small reel-mounted BM packs, and the lead-acid Tough Battery line.

A note on names: online you’ll see packs sold as “Daiwa Super Lithium BM 5000C”, “BM 7000C” or “14000mAh for Daiwa”. We found no evidence those are Daiwa products. They appear to be aftermarket packs using Daiwa-style names. Daiwa’s own current compatibility chart lists only the Super Lithium 12000WP/12000WPII, Super Lithium 11000WP, Tough Battery 20000C and Tough Battery 12000-IV.

Features

Daiwa’s chart lists the big Seaborg G1800M-RJ as compatible only with the 12000WP/12000WPII and the Tough Battery 20000C. If you run Daiwa’s largest reels, this is the lithium battery to use.
Safety note: Daiwa warns that if water gets inside a battery and it’s then charged, there’s a fire or explosion risk. Rinse the outside only, and let it dry fully.
Air travel: Daiwa says it can’t be carried on aircraft.
Super Lithium 12000WP-C / 12000WP-N (2023)
Released in May 2023, this is the predecessor to the WPII. It has the same 14.4V, 12Ah, 1,230 g body and features, but covers Daiwa electrics 1200 size and smaller.

Super Lithium 11000WP-C (previous generation)
11Ah, about 1,190 g, 94 × 204 × 46 mm, and about 220 retrieves per charge in Daiwa’s test. Daiwa’s chart lists it for Seaborg, Leobritz, Seapower and Tanacom up to 1200 size. Fishingshop.kiwi listed it at about US$359 (out of stock). Its Daiwa product page is gone, so it may be discontinued.
Cordless Super Lithium BM series (reel-mounted)
The BM packs are small batteries that mount on the reel or rod, so there’s no cord to a separate battery. They suit small electrics for light fishing. The models we checked are discontinued.

The BM packs have low-voltage warning, protection against short circuit, over-discharge, overcharge and overheating, and a connector that can’t be plugged in backwards.
BM2600 recall
On November 1, 2021, Daiwa recalled the Super Lithium BM2600C and BM2600N with a full refund. The resin connector wasn’t strong enough, could crack and let seawater in, creating a fire risk. Refunds were ¥26,200 (N) and ¥37,400 (C), plus 13 related accessories. Japan hotline: 0120-506-204. Don’t buy or use a BM2600.
For deep dropping: The BM packs are too small. About 23 retrieves from 100 m is fine for light Japanese fishing, but a Florida deep drop in 600–1,200 ft needs a much larger battery.
Tough Battery (sealed lead-acid)

Both come with a charger and bag, and suit Seaborg, Leobritz, Seapower and Tanacom up to 1200 size, plus the Marine Power 3000. The Marine Power 3000-24V needs two 12V lead batteries wired in series. Daiwa notes lead capacity may not be enough for some target species.
Lead vs lithium: Lead is cheap and easy to ship, but a 20Ah lead battery weighs about 6.4 kg, five times the 12000WP.
Powering Daiwa electrics in the US
Daiwa’s batteries are sold mainly in Japan. US anglers usually choose one of three routes:
1. Hard-wired boat power. Many captains wire outlets to the boat batteries. From a Hull Truth thread on the Tanacom 1000 (forum figures): draw is about 12 A normally and up to 30 A when stalled. Owners use 30 A marine plugs (such as Hubbell) with a 30 A fuse per circuit.
2. US-made 14.8V lithium packs. Abyss sells the PAB-T9000 (Tanacom and others) and PAB-S9000 (Seaborg), rated 14.8V 10Ah, at $299.99. Abyss says many Daiwa models accept up to 16.8V. See also BatPower and Black Oak LED.
3. 12V lithium or AGM in a dry box. A budget option, but check the battery’s continuous-current rating against a stalled reel’s draw (up to about 30 A).
How much capacity? Abyss’s guide suggests about 10Ah lithium as the standard for deep dropping, with draw of about 5–8 A for tilefish and snapper at 600–900 ft and 8–12 A for daytime swordfish.

Verdict
Daiwa’s Super Lithium 12000WP-C and 12000WPII-C are excellent batteries: light for 12Ah, well protected and able to run two small reels. For a Japan-based angler, they’re the obvious choice. In the US, their price and shipping restrictions make hard-wired boat power or a US-made 14.8V pack such as the Abyss PAB-S9000 more practical. Avoid anything sold as a “Daiwa BM 5000C/7000C/14000C”, and never use a recalled BM2600.
