Company: X2Power · Owner: Batteries Plus (house brand) · Sold at: Batteries Plus stores and batteriesplus.com · Category: 12V LiFePO4 marine batteries
X2Power is the Batteries Plus house brand, and it doesn’t make an electric reel battery. There’s no reel pack, no Daiwa or Shimano plug and no mention of electric reels on its product pages. What it does sell is a line of 12.8V lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries with Bluetooth monitoring, marketed for fish finders, kayaks, trolling motors and house power, with a 10-year free replacement warranty on the marine models.
The appeal for Florida deep droppers is simple: you can walk into a Batteries Plus store and buy one today. This review covers which X2Power batteries make sense in a reel battery box, what’s published and what isn’t.
Company overview
Batteries Plus describes X2Power as its “proprietary brand.” In 2023, Fishing Tackle Retailer reported that Batteries Plus had over 700 locations nationwide and was expanding X2Power’s marine lithium range, with an “industry-leading 10-year free replacement warranty.” The newer models carry Bluetooth and work with the X2Power app to show voltage, power, cycles and remaining run time. X2Power also runs its own site, x2powerbattery.com, with fishing boat and fish finder collections.

30Ah (SLIL12-30DCM-BT). The most practical size for one or two reels. At $199.99 it’s cheaper than most 10Ah reel packs, with three times the capacity. It comes in the same 7.12 × 3 × 6.5″ case as the older 20Ah (SLIL12-20DCM-BT), which In-Fisherman reviewed at $249.99 and 5.9 lb (X2Power’s product sheet lists 5.6 lb). The 20Ah’s Batteries Plus product page no longer loads.
9Ah commercial (10.8Ah). Small and light at 2.1 lb, but Batteries Plus lists it for “security systems, backup power, robotics,” and it carries a shorter 36-month warranty. No current rating is published, so it’s a gamble for a big reel.
60Ah. Enough capacity to run several reels and electronics from one box on a center console.
The missing number: current rating
Batteries Plus lists capacity, energy, size, terminals and warranty, but not maximum continuous or peak discharge current for any X2Power battery we looked at. X2Power says each battery has a Battery Management System that protects “against over-charging and over-discharging,” which also means the BMS will shut the battery off if a load goes past its limit.
For reference, Daiwa rates the Seaborg 800MJ at up to 20 A peak, and a vendor on The Hull Truth said the Banax Kaigen 1000 limits current to 25 A. Before relying on an X2Power battery for a big reel, ask Batteries Plus (1-800-677-8278) for the continuous and peak rating of the exact part number. Dakota Lithium, by contrast, publishes these figures; see our Dakota Lithium review.
X2Power also warns its deep-cycle batteries are “not for use as a cranking/starting battery.” Keep a reel battery isolated from the engine-starting circuit.
Choosing an X2Power battery for your reel
| Your setup | X2Power battery |
|---|---|
| One Daiwa or Shimano reel, battery box on deck | 30Ah SLIL12-30DCM-BT ($199.99), after confirming current rating |
| Two or three reels plus electronics | 60Ah SLIL12-60DCM-BT ($419.99) |
| Lightest possible 12V battery | 9Ah commercial ($109.99), smaller reels only |
| Rod-mounted pack with a reel plug | Not available from X2Power; see Abyss or BatPower |
These pairings are our suggestions. X2Power doesn’t publish reel compatibility.
Building a deep drop battery box with X2Power
- Box it. Batteries Plus doesn’t list a waterproof rating. Use a closed, vented battery box, strapped down.
- Fuse it. Put an inline fuse sized for your reel on the positive lead, close to the battery.
- Connect properly. The M8 insert terminals on the 30Ah and 60Ah take ring terminals. Wire a 2-pin reel socket or a Hubbell outlet to them rather than using alligator clips.
- Charge with a LiFePO4 charger. X2Power sells chargers; Boating tested an X2Power 7.5-amp charger alongside a 100Ah battery in 2023.
- Use the app. Bluetooth lets you check state of charge from the helm, which is handy on a long ledge day.

Verdict
X2Power isn’t an electric reel battery brand, but its 30Ah Bluetooth LiFePO4 at $199.99 is a sensible core for a deep drop battery box, especially if you’d rather buy from a store with a 10-year replacement warranty than from a website. The weak spot is the spec sheet: no published current rating and no weights for the current models. Confirm the current rating for your part number, fuse and wire it properly, and it’ll run a reel. If you want a pack that straps to the rod and plugs straight in, buy a dedicated reel battery instead.
