Seigler design
- Lever drag on every conventional reel, with a preset dial. Drag runs from 3 lb up to each model’s maximum.

This is Seigler’s dedicated slow pitch reel. Compared with the standard SGN, Dance’s Sporting Goods lists three changes:
- A longer handle arm for cranking larger jigs
- A different reel foot that avoids bulky studs, so it sits lower on the rod
- A smaller non-crank side plate for palming

Slow pitch fit: 38″ per turn is ideal for slow pitch rhythm, 30 lb of lever drag is plenty for grouper and amberjack, and at 11.2 oz it’s one of the lightest lever drags you can buy.
SGN Signature
A lightened SGN with frame cutouts, at 9.8 oz. Specs otherwise match the SGN: 6:1, 38″ per turn, 30 lb max drag, 350 yd of 30 lb braid, 7 bearings. Retailers say only a few are made each month by the owner personally, and the cutouts need a bit more maintenance. $450 at CharkBait.

The SG has a wider spool for live bait and bottom fishing with 30–40 lb rigs, with a 3–30 lb drag, right or left hand. $400 at CharkBait. For slow pitch, the narrow SGN is the better choice.

With Seigler between production runs, grab one if you find it in stock or on sale. Otherwise, the Accurate Valiant SPJ and Avet SXJ are the closest American alternatives.
