Daiwa rod technology, briefly
- SVF Nanoplus: Daiwa’s high-grade carbon with less resin binder, so the blank is lighter and stiffer for its strength. It’s used on the new Saltiga Slow Pitch.
- HVF Nanoplus: a slightly lower grade of the same idea, used on the Power Slow, Harrier and previous Saltiga.
- X45 bias construction: carbon wrapped at 45 degrees to resist twisting. That keeps the rod tip tracking straight when a heavy jig or fish pulls sideways.
- 3DX: a three-dimensional cross-wrap used on the Power Slow for extra durability.
- AGS (Air Guide System): carbon-frame guides, used on the Japanese Saltiga SJ.

Specs from Johnny Jigs, Pompano Beach, September 2026. Canadian retailer Berry’s lists slightly different ratings for the HB (450 g) and XHB (45 lb), plus an XXHB model rated to 800 g, so check the tag on the rod you buy.
These jig ranges match Daiwa Japan’s 23 Saltiga SJ, which suggests the US rod is built on the same blank. In Japan, the Saltiga SJ runs from 61B-00 (80–150 g, 103 g rod weight) to 61B-6 (250–800 g, 129 g), priced at ¥60,500–¥64,000, with AGS guides and a ZERO_SEAT reel seat.
Who it’s for: Serious slow pitch anglers who want a light, crisp flagship rod. For Florida ledges in 150–300 ft, the MHB or HB is the sweet spot. The XHB handles 400–500 g jigs in Gulf Stream current.
Previous-generation Saltiga Slow Pitch (SGSL)
Retailers still sell the earlier Saltiga Slow Pitch, often discounted. It uses an HVF Nanoplus blank, Fuji titanium LRV-frame guides with SiC rings, straight (not spiral) guides, and weighs under 5 oz.

Worth it? If you find one discounted, the SGSL is still an excellent rod, and its SGSL61XXH (800 g) covers very deep water that many slow pitch rods can’t.

The Power Slow is Daiwa’s answer to big fish on slow pitch gear. It adds 3DX cross-wrapping to HVF Nanoplus and X45 for durability, with Fuji K guides and SiC rings. Tomo’s Tackle quotes Daiwa’s claim of a 120% increase in durability over traditional slow jigging rods.

Who it’s for: Amberjack, big grouper and deep-water fish where a regular slow pitch rod would be overpowered. The longer 6’10” and 8′ models give longer lifts and more cushioning on big fish. Johnny Jigs notes the 8′ models are in-store only.

Daiwa covers slow pitch from top to bottom. The new Saltiga Slow Pitch is a light, refined flagship with a 5-year warranty. The Power Slow is the rod for big fish.
