Seigler Conventional Reels: USA-Made Lever-Drag Buying Guide and 2025–2026 Availability
Review method: Researched editorial buying analysis based on authorized dealer specifications (Tomo's Tackle, CharkBait, Fish & Tackle), an independent review and dated press — not personal field testing. Seigler's former conventional-reel website could not be reached; its current site (seigler.fish) shows only saltwater fly reels. Where dealers disagree, we say so.

Seigler Conventional Reels — features in separate columns
All current Seigler conventionals are single-speed lever-drag reels with one-piece 6061-T6 machined aluminum frames, multi-disc carbon drag, oversized stainless gears, a strike button with detented lever and a lifetime warranty. “LH” and “RH” are handedness options, not separate models.

2025–2026 updates and current generations
No new conventional models in 2025–2026: we found no Seigler conventional launch at ICAST 2025 or 2026 or in trade press. In February 2025 anglers on StripersOnline noted that the Seigler website showed only fly reels; one said the change had been announced in 2024, while another said conventionals and parts were still being made.
Availability in 2026: CharkBait lists all six of its Seigler conventional models as sold out, saying Seigler is “between production runs” with no date. Fish & Tackle is selling the SGN at $200 (regular $399.99) and LGN at $250 (regular $449.99). Seigler's current site, seigler.fish, focuses on saltwater fly reels. If you want a Seigler conventional, buy from dealer stock and confirm parts and warranty support with Seigler.
Seigler company and reel overview
A small American machinist
Seigler Reels, run by Wes Seigler in Virginia Beach, Virginia, machines its reels in the USA. The brand was previously known as Release Reels and then Truth Reels; dealers say the name changed because of trademark disputes. Seigler made its name with compact, simple and very strong lever-drag reels at prices well below most machined competitors, backed by a lifetime warranty.
Model names describe size: SG is Small Game, SGN Small Game Narrow, LG Large Game, LGN Large Game Narrow and OS Offshore Small. The SM star-drag magnetic surf reel, announced in 2015, appears discontinued, and there is no Seigler “Big Game” conventional — that name belongs to its BF and XBF fly reels.
How to choose
SGN for light live bait, inshore and shallow jigging; SGN Signature for the lightest possible reel; SGN Slow Pitch for low-profile slow-pitch setups; SG for more capacity in the small frame; LGN and LG for heavier bottom fishing, slow-pitch and tuna; OS for offshore work if you can find one.
