Miya Epoch doesn’t sell its own battery. We checked the official “electric reel optional items” list and the Miya Epoch Australia catalog. Both list power cords and accessories, but no batteries or chargers. What Miya Epoch does publish is useful: the voltage and amp draw of each Command reel, and a range of official power cords. CZ-20 notes:
– Speed is 110 m/min at 12V and 120 m/min at 24V.
– The 24V model comes with a series connection cord, which means running two 12V batteries in series.
– Technotren’s US page lists the CZ-20 as 12V with optional 24V, and a current of 1.4–20 A at 12V (slightly different from Japan’s 23 A figure).
– Technotren says the CZ-20’s automatic drag control (ATC) conserves battery compared with reels that raise amperage under load.
What this means for batteries: A compact AT-5S peaks at about 15 A, which a good 10Ah+ lithium pack can supply. A CZ-20 at 12V can pull up to about 23 A, so it’s best on boat power or a large, high-current battery. The 24V reels need two 12V batteries in series or a 24V system.

Choosing a length: Use the shortest cord that reaches your battery or outlet. Longer cords mean more voltage drop, which slows the reel under load. The 10 m (30 ft) cord suits reels mounted far from the boat’s batteries.

What’s not published: voltage, weight, dimensions, cycle life and charge time. For 24V-only reels such as the CZ-9 Kinme Special, confirm with BatPower that the ProM supports your reel before ordering.

Other ways to power a Miya Epoch
Hard-wired boat power. The most reliable option for big Command reels. Run heavy-gauge wire from the batteries to a marine outlet, fuse each circuit, and use Miya Epoch’s power cord from the outlet to the reel.
A 24V setup. For 24V reels, wire two identical 12V batteries in series (Miya Epoch supplies a series cord with the CZ-20 24V). Keep both batteries the same type, age and charge.
Other lithium packs. Many US reel batteries are built with Daiwa/Shimano plugs and don’t fit Miya Epoch without an adapter. BatPower says its ProM is the Miya Epoch version for that reason.

Safety and care
- Fuse every circuit and size the fuse to the reel’s maximum draw.
- Keep connectors clean and dry. Corroded plugs are a common cause of power loss.
- Don’t mix batteries in a 24V series pair.
- Charge lithium packs only with their own charger, and never charge a wet or damaged pack.

Miya Epoch builds some of the most powerful electric reels you can buy, but it leaves the battery to you. Use its published amp-draw figures to size your power. A BatPower ProM 15Ah suits mid-size Command reels for a full day. The big CZ-20 is happiest on hard-wired boat power, and 24V models need a series pair of batteries. Whatever you choose, use Miya Epoch’s own power cords and fuse every circuit.
