2025–2026 updates and current generations
Current generation: pfluegerfishing.com marks the new-generation President XT LP, President LP and President Flipping Switch LP as new and promotes them under New Arrivals; we did not find official release dates. No Pflueger baitcaster was announced at ICAST 2025 or 2026 — Pflueger's ICAST 2026 recognition went to the Supreme XT spinning reel.
Discontinued: the Patriarch, Patriarch XT, Supreme and Supreme XT baitcasters are no longer listed. Retailers may still sell remaining stock or show older specifications under similar names.

American heritage, value focus
Pflueger is one of America's oldest reel brands, founded in Akron, Ohio (the official site says “since 1881”; other sources say 1880), and is now part of Pure Fishing alongside Abu Garcia and PENN. Its current baitcasters are value and mid-priced freshwater reels built around graphite frames, brass gears, aluminum spools and magnetic brakes.
The range is now small: four low-profile models from about $49 to $120. That makes Pflueger a sensible choice for beginners and budget-conscious bass anglers, but anglers who need saltwater ratings, high drag or premium materials should look at PENN, Abu Garcia or the Japanese brands.
How to choose
The President XT LP is the clear pick for most buyers, with 10+1 bearings and a 7.9:1 option. The President LP saves money, the Flipping Switch version adds a flipping switch for pitching into cover, and the Monarch LP is the cheapest entry.

The new-generation President XT LP replaces the previous model. It uses a graphite frame and sideplates, precision brass gears, an aluminum spool, external magnetic brake and cork knobs.

Some retailer pages still show the previous generation's 6.8:1 and 7.5:1 ratios, 20 lb Carbon Matrix drag and 9+1 bearings under the same codes — check the listing matches the new specification.
