Deep Drop Rods Directory

What to look for

• Pick the line class to match your reel and the size of fish you target.
• Bent butts make rod-holder fishing and harness use easier.
• Check the reel seat fits electric reels and their mounting clamps.
• Glass and composite blanks forgive the shock loads that snap stiff graphite.
• A swivel tip top lets the line run straight to the fish when the rod sits in a holder at an angle.
• Japanese and Australian models are often rated in PE (braid size) rather than pounds; PE6–10 is roughly the 80–130 lb range.
